Seeing her next to the Arizona Memorial really puts its size into perspective... ENORMOUS!

Shoulder to shoulder, the deck measures 4.5 acres, with displacement of about 100,000 tons with full complement. Top speed exceeds 30 knots, powered by two nuclear reactors that can operate for more than 20 years without refueling...

The USS Ronald Reagan is expected to operate in the fleet for about 50 years, and carries over 80 combat aircraft. The bridge towers 20 stories above the waterline, and at 1092 feet long, the hull is nearly as long as the Empire State Building is tall.

Driven by four 21-ft. bronze propellers each 21 feet across and weighing 66,200 pounds, the USS Ronald Reagan is home to cca 6,000 sailors. It carries enough food and supplies to operate for 90 days between port calls, with 18,150 meals served daily.

Four onboard distillation plants provide 400,000 gallons of fresh water from sea water daily, enough for 2,000 homes...

The USS William Jefferson Clinton is show here sailing out of its home port of Vancouver , BC.

The ship is the first of its kind in the Navy and is a standing legacy to President Bill Clinton 'for his foresight in military budget cuts' and his conduct while holding the (formerly dignified) office of President.

This one is constructed nearly entirely from recycled aluminum and is completely solar powered with a top speed of 5 knots. It boasts an arsenal comprised of one (unarmed) F14 Tomcat or one (unarmed) F18 Hornet aircraft which -although they cannot be launched on the 100 ft deck- form a very menacing presence.

As a standing order, there are no firearms allowed on board.

This crew -much like those  aboard the USS Jimmy Carter- receive weeks of special training in how to avoid conflicts and appease any and all enemies of the United States... at all costs.

An onboard Type One DNC Universal Translator can send out messages of apology in any language to anyone who may have found America offensive. The number of apologies are limitless and though some may seem hollow and disingenuous, the Navy advises all apologies will sound very sincere.

When conflict cannot be avoided, the USS Bill Clinton has orders to promptly seek refuge in Canada.

The USS Barack Hussein Obama is a secure development program, and at this point details are vague.

But no worries... he has a plan.

Neutron beams have been observed coming from the Fukushima plant. What does this mean? It means fission, which is a nuclear reaction that would take place in overheated rods. The neutron beams could either be leaking out through cracks in the reactor vessels or from fission reactions taking place in the spent-fuel pools.

Also of concern are the anonymous "Fukushima 50" nuclear workers who stayed on to try to avert disaster. Most of them are older workers. They are heroes, no matter what radiation dose they end up absorbing, their willingness to sacrifice their health and safety for that of others is heroic.

Three workers this week stepped into highly radioactive water while attempting to hook up electricity. One of the workers had high-sided boots and the other two had lower-sided boots. Those two ended up in the hospital with possible radiation burns on the skin of their feet/legs where the water soaked into their boots. Most official reports deny that the workers received anything higher than 100 milliseiverts exposure. A TIME blogger reports that the workers' dosage tags showed about 175 millisieverts each. One commenter on that article, "squeaksqueak" states (edited for brevity):
"Press reports suggested that the hospitalized workers had been exposed to doses 10,000 times above normal. But the only reliable information on the dosage received by the workers comes from a TEPCO press release, which states that the trio suffered radiation exposure between 170 millisieverts and 180 millisieverts."

No. I was watching NHK World when the information came out. I wrote it down. But I have to say I just about fell out of my chair when I wrote down the numbers.

The radiation in the water that the workers were exposed to was 3.9 MILLION Bq/cc. It was then stated in the news conference that this is 10,000 times the amount of radiation that would be in water in a reactor that is working normally. This is a very important point. It clearly shows that this water that had leaked out of the reactor had been exposed directly to the reactor fuel, which could only have happened if some of the fuel rods melted and the protective coating oxidized off. Otherwise it could not have been so highly irradiated. The estimated radiation exposure was 173-180 millisieverts between the three men. The surface of the water measured 400 millisieverts.

At the hospital, after decontamination, the workers were still radioactive, and that measurement was around 150 millisieverts.

The most recent report is that the feet of the two men were exposed to 2-6 sieverts (2,000 to 6,000 millisieverts). This is usually a fatal amount of radiation exposure if it is full body exposure, so the fact it was only their feet that were exposed likely makes a huge difference. It will take a couple weeks for some symptoms to appear.

A further explanation of a small point. The 173-180 millisieverts exposure the three men had was 173 for one, 179 for another, and 180 for the third. This is the exposure they had from the radiation in the air in that room. This would have been shown on each person's meter.

Two of the men had additional radiation exposure from the water that leaked into their boots.

Every summer I go to the mammography place for my annual dose of 3 millisieverts.  Add this to the average American dose and I end up with about 5 to 6 millisieverts of exposure each year after age 40.

It’s not supposed to happen this way. Spring break is a time for cutting loose and having fun for a brief time before getting back to the school grind.

But, for four Indiana families, the dawn of the Spring season comes with unexpected heart ache and grief.

Daily Mail reports that four Indiana high school students returning from a spring break trip have been killed in a horror crash in Alabama.

The four boys, one of whom had been their school's quarterback, all died when a mini-van driven by another man drifted across the meridian and hit them head on.

He also died in the crash and several people in a third car were injured.

Corporal Steve Smith with the Alabama State Troopers says the four teens were Matthew Riley Zimmer, Evan Weaver, Matthew Roe and Alexx Bauer.

The 18-year-olds were from Angola, Indiana, a small community near the Michigan state line. They all attended the same high school.

Bauer and Zimmer played for the Angola High School football team. In 2010 Bauer was the quarterback of the team, a position that would have made him a school hero.
Today, as word of the deaths spread, many students at the school had updated their Facebook status simply with a full stop '.', in apparent tribute to their classmates.

Twenty-one-year-old Niall McNellis of Troy, Alabama, also died in the crash around 3 pm Saturday.

An initial investigation indicates Mr McNellis was driving south on Interstate 65 just south of Clanton, Alabama, when his mini van crossed the median and hit the car driven by Mr Zimmer head-on as the teens drove north.

It was unclear if bad weather that passed through the area contributed to the wreck. Hail and possible tornadoes were reportedly occurring near the scene.

A message on the football team's website said the members 'thoughts and prayers' were with all the students' families.

'We will never forget you,' the message read.
Head coach Luke Amstutz said the four were 'wonderful kids'.

I never heard of this actress, but let me tell ya’ she’s drop dead gorgeous!

As far as her allegations, it looks like maybe the Roman Catholic Church may have some company when it comes to sexual shenanigans.

The Blaze reports that the beautiful Pakistani actress, Veena Malik, has been accused by a Muslim cleric of being immoral for appearing on an Indian reality show called “Big Boss,“ which is like our version of ”Big Brother.” In an appearance with Express News TV, she was confronted by cleric Mufti Abdul Qavi who said that she “disgraced Pakistan, as well as Islam” for appearing on the show (though he admitted to not having watched a single episode of “Big Boss”).

The cleric also said of Malik:
If she does not have pangs of conscience because of what she did, then I would tell her to awaken her conscience. No one in Pakistan can look at her pictures in the presence of their daughters. I don‘t think that her son will like to look at his mother’s picture in the future, in her presence or in the presence of his father or brother.

Malik‘s measured and courageous response turned the cleric’s admonitions to dust. Among many other things, Malik told him, basically, to buzz off: “There are many other things for you to deal with. There are Islamic clerics who rape the children they teach in their mosques, and so much more.”

This is the first I’ve ever heard of these types of allehations going on in Islam.
