Conservative Jumping in Pools says Joe Klein has the McChrystal resigns scoop...and it's not a good thing for the United States of America if true that Stanley McChrystal -noted counterinsurgency expert- will no longer be on the job in Afghanistan.

The journalist -Mr Klein- could be called dubious, so take it as you wish- but seems to fit in pretty well with the rest of the story as we know it. Check here at RR for McChrystal updates throughout the day, hopefully we'll have some confirmation on the McChrystal resigns rumor shortly.

General Stanley McChrystal was likely plenty aware of the consequences of his statements to a magazine interviewer... what if he felt a desperate need for this country to wake up to what an incompetent and detached Commander-in-Chief we've got...? It is an urgent matter of national security, as Obama's manufacured public image as capable and focused is a fraud... a dangerous situation.

A senior Capitol Hill source tells me that General Stanley McChrystal had tendered his resignation to President Barack Obama and that the White House is actively discussing a replacement who could be quickly confirmed by the Senate.
The source said that among the names being touted as possible successors are General James Mattis, the outgoing head of the US Joint Forces Command and due to retire after being passed over as US Marine Corps commander, and Lieutenant General William Caldwell, commander of Nato’s Training Mission in Afghanistan.
Of course, offering to resign is not the same as actually resigning and it remains to be seen whether Mr Obama will accept the resignation...
