The Russians Provided China with Stealth Technology Employed in the J-20 Fighter

According to a senior US lawmaker, the Russians provided China with the stealth technology they're now rolling-out for all the world to see... great. Add this to their new anti carrier missiles, and it's just like Dick Cheney warned us about... they're plainly going after the pillars of US military superiority, namely stealth aircraft and a blue-water Navy. This is the same Kremlin that Obama is so anxious to do arms deals with... in the name of bringing us peace!
Instead of viewing China as the enemy they clearly see themselves as -how else to explain firing missiles off the California coast- Obama has basically surrendered already, financially and otherwise... and really for no reason but the Dems' profligate spending habits that most Americans reject.
Some already consider the J-20 superior to the single engine F-35 we're developing... the more competitive F-22 has already been cancelled by Obama because it had "no peers"... like you'd want that, good grief. And what possible excuse for denying Israel... who were ready to order dozens on the plane... proliferation? Too late now...
And well done, because now we've got one... with the Russian T-50 also on the way. For these and other reasons, the House Armed Services Committee is more than a little bit worried about Obama's ongoing defense cuts...
China got the technology for its first stealth fighter jet from Russia, a senior US lawmaker said Tuesday, one week after the airplane apparently made its maiden flight.
"My understanding is that they built it on information that they received from Russia, from a Russian plane, that they were able to copy," House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon told reporters. McKeon, a Republican, said he hoped to "hear more" on the issue from Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who was on a visit to Beijing when Chinese state media published photographs of the J-20 fighter in the skies over southwestern China.
According to the reports, which cited witnesses, the next-generation war jet -- the existence of which highlights China's drive to modernize its military -- made a 15-minute test flight before landing. The lawmaker, who had been asked whether Beijing had obtained the technology needed to build such an advanced fighter from cyber-espionage, also stressed that "China's a concern" for US national security.
"We need to be looking at China, we need to be looking at North Korea, we need to be looking at Iran," said McKeon, who has given a skeptical greeting to Gates' plans for reductions in US military spending.
"That's what really concerns me when I look at the cuts, the potential cuts, that they're talking about for the defense budget. This is not a safe world," said the lawmaker.

Chinese prototype according to the Washington expert on the Chinese military, Richard Fisher looks "superior to an American F-35", which the U.S. decided to give priority to the F-22, which is larger and more expensive. J-20 aircraft as the F-22, two engines and is roughly the same size. F-35 has only one engine.

An unofficial Chinese site has pictures of a Chinese stealth fighter said to be as invisible to radar and/or infrared sensors as an American F-22 Raptor...
...there are also opinions that it is just a dummy.
But other experts say that the pictures were in the neighborhood development center in western China taken in stages, which they consider one of the last steps before the first flight of the machine....

... interested in all this is Japan, who's considering buying F-35s and India, which last month the Russians agreed to the joint development of "invisible" airplane.
However, the Russians already have such a machine. Sukhoi T-50, which Russian engineers have developed since the 90s, made its first flight a year ago.
The operation is to be the fifth-generation Sukhoi deployed within four years, will replace the MiG-29 and dry Su-27. Russian Air Force is currently preparing a second prototype test flights...

North Korea on Tuesday fired dozens of rounds of artillery toward South Korean waters and an island near the tense west sea border, the South's military said, leaving at least four South Korean soldiers wounded. The North's artillery shells started falling in the South's waters off the island of Yeonpyeong from around 2:34 p.m., some of them landing directly on the island, said Col. Lee Bung-woo, spokesman for the South's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
The South's military fired back some 80 rounds, he said. The military is on its highest peacetime alert, he said. The Air Force has deployed fighter jets to the island.
One marine was critically wounded and three others sustained minor injuries, according to Lee... Island residents said people are being told to evacuate.
Officials said the North's shelling was intermittently continuing and that the South was also responding with return fire. The presidential office Cheong Wa Dae said it was looking into the possibility that the North's firing was in protest to an ongoing South Korean military drill on the western coast.
The "Hoguk Exercise," one of South Korea's three major annual defense exercises, began Monday with some 70,000 troops participating. The North had sent a message to Seoul denouncing the exercise earlier in the day, Cheong Wa Dae said. The president convened an emergency meeting of security ministers and instructed the government to ensure that the situation is contained.
The western sea border was the scene of bloody gun battles between the navies of the two Koreas in 1999, 2002 and most recently in November of last year.

Record Mexican Pot Bust Even Mas Grande than First Thought: now 134.2 tons/$428M

Mexico's largest-ever seizure of marijuana packaged for sale is even bigger than the original estimate of 105 tons and probably belonged to the country's most powerful drug-trafficking cartel, authorities said Tuesday.
The Sinaloa cartel run by Mexico's most wanted fugitive, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, now is moving drugs through the Tijuana corridor "unimpeded," said a U.S. law enforcement official in Mexico, a possible reason why violence has dropped in the city across the border from San Diego, California, since a bloody peak in 2008...
Mexican soldiers and police grabbed the U.S.-bound marijuana in pre-dawn raids Monday in three neighborhoods when 11 people arrested after a shootout led authorities to the drugs. Army officials first said the drugs weighed 105 tons and had an estimated street value of 4.2 billion pesos, about $340 million. But authorities said the haul was even bigger Tuesday, counting 15,300 packages — 5,000 more than first announced... By comparison, U.S. authorities seized a total of 123 tons of marijuana during 2009 at all San Diego-area border crossings.
...marijuana cultivation is up in Mexico since 2005, more than doubling to 21.5 million metric tons in 2008. Marijuana seizures on the U.S. side of the border also have increased from about 1,000 to 1,500 metric tons between 2005 and 2009...
The Sinaloa cartel controls distribution in neighboring Sonora state and the city of Mexicali, only 120 miles east of Tijuana. It also controls areas to the east and is warring for control of the border city of Cuidad Juarez..
But nobody should be surprised that Mexico's most wanted fugitive now moves drugs into San Diego almost unchallenged by either government (except for yesterday lol) and/or rivals... yesterday the DHS itself admitted that over half the US-Mexican border -over 1000 miles- is not even under "effective control". Maybe someone should explain to 'Big Sis' Incompetano that opening-up most of the SW United States to drug smugglers isn't helping the Mexican government at-all.
And while a shaky Mexico struggles with these rich, powerful, and merciless gangs and their paramilitaries, Obama dozes... America's border is violated with impunity... and cartels feel free to send 15 assassins into Arizona to wipe-out anyone disrupts the distribution channels- at what point does all this officially qualify as an invasion?
Amusingly, the 15,300 bricks of weed confiscated in yesterday's record bust feature sytematic color-coding (by destination?) as well as professionally-produced labels, like this one with Homer Simpson and a Spanish double entendre meaning either:
"I'm going partying" or "I'm crossing illegally"... cute.

North Korean Heir Apparent Makes Grand Debut at Massive Military Parade

At a massive ceremony in Pyongyang, North Korea yesterday, Kim Jong Un -favored son of Stalinist dictator Kim Jong-Il- reviewed a massive military parade alongside his father in a ceremony dedicated to celebrating the 65th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers Party of Korea.
The younger Kim's appearance in front of 20,000 troops, heavy weaponry, and huge crowds came two days after a senior official appeared to confirm that he would be the secretive state's next leader: "Our people are honoured to serve the great president Kim Il-sung and the great leader Kim Jong-il. Now we also have the honour of serving the young general Kim Jong-un." he was quoted as saying on Friday.

The presence of senior Chinese officials and rarely-invited foreign media at the weekend-long celebrations further confirmed that Kim Jong-un was being anointed in public.
Until a few months ago, Kim, the third and youngest son of Kim Jong-il, was all but unknown, both to the outside world and inside his secretive homeland. But with his ailing father, who is believed to have suffered a stroke in 2008 and who now walks with a pronounced limp, desperate to ensure that a third generation of the Kim family succeeds him, the Swiss-educated Kim Jong-un, has risen rapidly in North Korea's hierarchy.
Last month, he was appointed as a 4-star general and as vice-chairman of the Workers Party's central military commission. Despite Kim Jong-un's lack of experience in government, his succession seems to have been approved by China, North Korea's only true ally, which fears instability in the DPRK will lead to a flood of refugees across its borders.
Those poor bastards better hope this kid did something other than ski and chase blondes in Switzerland, because the mess he's about to inherit is a decrepit economic basket-case ten times worse than East Germany ever was. And despite the rhetoric, the South Koreans want little or nothing to do with fixing this penniless Stalinist hell- they couldn't afford to absorb it even if they wanted to. East Germany bled the West white, and it's still just limping-along. And South Korea is no Germany, either... hard to see how reunification will ever work there, really-
