This 1986 comedy directed by Peter Hyams and starring Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines is really a lot of fun. What the film does so well is seamlessly blend comedy and high intensity drama.
That’s hard to do!
You’ll laugh and hold your breath at a taxi chasing a limo on The El, still one of the most creative chase scenes ever filmed. Hines and Crystal may sound like an unlikely crime fight duo, but the chemistry between them is great.
It’s the kind of flick you can watch over and over again.
Where is it written in stone that the GOP always has to be for war, any war?
In the 1960s during Viet Nam, the GOP was the anti-war party.
I think getting sucked into the conflict in Libya, which by the way increases spending,, is a missed opportunity for the GOP to pivot and make a push to pulling all our troops from the battlefields in Iraq and Afghanistan and include that in the argument to cut spending.
Let president Obama defended continuing the war if he wants. And if he doesn’t and agrees, it cuts spending anyway, and the GOP would have taken the lead on the isuue.
The mood of the Middle East has shifted towards regime change which makes Afghanistan and Iraq redundant. The United States has spent enough blood and treasure in the Middle East and that’s exactly the argument the GOP needs to make now this time with a Democrat in the White House.
Stop being a bunch of “me too” and start drawing bold colors.

This movie came out when I was 20 yrs old and it scared the crap out of me.
Directed by John Badham and starring Matthew Broderick, Ally Sheedy, Dabney Coleman, John Wood, and Barry Corbin. Corbin, a great character actor, steals the movie in my opinion.
It’s funny how the computer equipment seems so ancient from out of the Stone Age. But, in 1983 it was all cutting edge and only computer geeks owned personal computers.
I don’t have War Games in my personal DVD collection and I rarely recommend films I don’t own. However, I’ll make an except for War Games which is still thrilling although somewhat dated as far as Cold War tensions between the Soviet Union which still existed at the time this film was released and the United S States. This is what made the film so impactful for its time.
Worth picking up!

This is my third venture into commercial critiques. The first was State Farm commercial with the Black couple. The second was the Plant Fines with I pick things up and put them down.
And this one. I think this commercial is genuinely funny. But, then I wondered why did I laugh? If these were tow guys just talking it wouldn’t work. But, when it becomes zany and over the top, it’s obvious the guys are very Gay. Is it legit because the guys are Gay? And if it is, isn’t this commercial offensive to some Gays?
I especially like the guy on the right who’s a bit more flamboyant than the other

I had a reader ask, “Why would God let what’s happening in Japan happen? This kind of question always comes up after a natural disaster.
It’s a legitimate question.
I won’t presume to know the mind of God. However, the answer to the “why” question may not be answered for another 100 years. What I do know is that He’s always in sovereign control of all that occurs on earth and His purpose shall be served.
Remember all the oil that spilled in the Gulf of Mexico and how it was called it the worst spill in U.S. history. All those millions of gallons disappeared thanks to organisms that ate all the oil. They can’t find any of itl today despite all the dire predictions of an ecological disaster.
You think the oil just disappeared by coincidence?
Think again!
I’ve heard some say Japan is being punished for being a Buddhist nation. I disagree with this line of thinking. Nevertheless, I believe God has a way of breaking a person, or even a nation down to grab their attention. I think there’s going to be a Great Christian Awakening in Japan.
Remember this, there’s beauty in brokenness and His mercy has no limits.

I think it’s safe to say that President Barack Obama is the most passive president in U.S. history. Does this guy ever take the initiative in anything besides picking up a golf club?
Even Liberals are hard pressed to defend Obama for doing basically nothing but offering a speech on occasion to address an issue and “boom” the issue should be resolved because “Obama the Great” spoke on it.
Sorry, Barry, but only God can make things happen with the power of his words.
I think one o the most important qualities a president should have is leadership. Obama by any measure is not a leader. Looking good and speaking well are nice attributes to have, but America needs much more than that.

Boehner and GOP leaders not showing Scott Walker courage by failing to defund $105 billion in ObamaCare spending

If Speaker of the House John Boehner and the other GOPers in leadership think they can pussyfoot around with the Democrats and not rip $105 billion hidden in ObamaCare spending, they’ll pay dearly next election cycle.
I had my doubts about John Boehner, Eric Cantor and Mike Pence going way back to last July when they stabbed Joe Barton from Texas in the back (see Pussies-R-Us explanation).
It’s frustrating when you have gutless leaders!
But, if these guys don’t shape and do what the voters expect them to do, the ballot box will be the solution for each and every one of them.
Trust me when I tell you!
We want Scott Walker types, not cowardly lions.

People like this filth, whose name is not worth mentioning, deserve to be taken off the street which is why we need a maximum arrest law.
3 strikes and you’re in!
Anyone arrested more than 3 times regardless of charges being dropped, dismissed or leading to conviction faces a mandatory 5 years in prison. Each additional arrest after release from prison faces a mandatory 10 year sentence.
New York needs to rid themselves of the vermin living among us with multiple arrest records a mile long. Why wait for the time bomb to go off and somebody pays for it with his or her life?
Andrew Cuomo should really prove he’s a new kind of Democrat by pushing for such a law.

Here’s Michael Moore, a certified Left loon appearing on the Rachael Maddow Show (aka The Karat Kid) spouting off an incoherent conspiracy theory laden argument.
These public sector union worker who are employees of the taxpayers who pay their salaries are upset that the people want to stop the cycle of sweetheart deals between them and the Democrat party?
Michael Moore and these protestors think that the people are stupid. They think by screaming workers rights, workers rights over and over again that the taxpayers will bend over and say, “Screw me some more in taxes to pay for your generous benefit packages!”
It’s all over for these public sector unions across the country. People can see past the hysteria and have little sympathy for workers that get paid more than the average private sector employee and have way better benefit packages. The gravy train between Democrats and public workers is derailing for good reason because the spending is unsustainable.

Before you jump on me, I’m only applying the same standard the Left was quick to put on Speaker of the House John Boehner after he cried n public. It didn’t matter to them why Boehner cried. What was at issue is that a grown man cried-period.
This is Muslim congressman Keith Ellison who broke down and cried describing a fellow Muslim first responder who died on 911.
So, I call for an immediate psychological work up of Ellison because his credibility is in question because he cried. It doesn’t matter why he was crying. But, that he cried-period and I expect the Left to hold him to the same standard.
Personally, I’m from the old school who believes a man doesn’t cry in public. But, in the age of the chic-a-fied man being the norm for America today, that’s asking too much. In my opinion, Ellison is soft-case closed!

Ms. Sampson got a layoff notice because the union leadership would not accept reasonable changes to their contract. Instead, they hid behind a collective-bargaining agreement that costs the taxpayers $101,091 per year for each teacher, protects a 0% contribution for health-insurance premiums, and forces schools to hire and fire based on seniority and union rules.
My state's budget-repair bill, which passed the Assembly on Feb. 25 and awaits a vote in the Senate, reforms this union-controlled hiring and firing process by allowing school districts to assign staff based on merit and performance. That keeps great teachers like Ms. Sampson in the classroom.
Most states in the country are facing a major budget deficit. Many are cutting billions of dollars of aid to schools and local governments. These cuts lead to massive layoffs or increases in property taxes—or both.
In Wisconsin, we have a better approach to tackling our $3.6 billion deficit. We are reforming the way government works, as well as balancing our budget. Our reform plan gives state and local governments the tools to balance the budget through reasonable benefit contributions. In total, our budget-repair bill saves local governments almost $1.5 billion, outweighing the reductions in state aid in our budget.
For example, my brother works as a banquet manager at a hotel and occasionally works as a bartender. My sister-in-law works at a department store. They have two beautiful kids. They are a typical middle-class Wisconsin family. At the start of this debate, David reminded me that he pays nearly $800 per month for his family's health-insurance premium and a modest 401(k) contribution. He said most workers in Wisconsin would love a deal like the one we are proposing.
The unions say they are ready to accept concessions, yet their actions speak louder than words. Over the past three weeks, local unions across the state have pursued contracts without new pension or health-insurance contributions. Their rhetoric does not match their record on this issue.
Local governments can't pass budgets on a hope and a prayer. Beyond balancing budgets, our reforms give schools—as well as state and local governments—the tools to reward productive workers and improve their operations. Most crucially, our reforms confront the barriers of collective bargaining that currently block innovation and reform.
Passing our budget-repair bill will help put similar reforms into place in Wisconsin. This will be good for the Badger State's hard-working taxpayers. It will also be good for state and local government employees who overwhelmingly want to do their jobs well.
In Wisconsin, we can avoid the massive teacher layoffs that schools are facing across America. Our budget-repair bill is a commitment to the future so our children won't face even more dire consequences than we face today, and teachers like Ms. Sampson are rewarded—not laid off.
Taking on the status quo is no easy task. Each day, there are protesters in and around our state Capitol. They have every right to be heard. But their voices cannot drown out the voices of the countless taxpayers who want us to balance our budgets and, more importantly, to make government work for each of them.
Mr. Walker, a Republican, is the governor of Wisconsin.

Lets say in November 2012 unemployment is at 8.3%, foreclosure rates are still the highest in American history, China has surpassed the United States as the strongest economy in the world, and Iran is testing missiles capable of delivering their nuclear warheads in the Potomac river.
And given this scenario coupled with the additional burden on American businesses that results in them dropping health care coverage for millions of employees because they can’t afford the regulatory costs of ObamaCare, public sector unions continue to win bloated benefit packages as a result of the efforts of Obama’s Organizing for America brow beating governors and mayors into the fetal position, and residents of California, New York, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin fleeing for lower tax states like Texas and Florida.
All this, and if Obama still wins another term will prove that he’ll would be judged by a lesser standard than any other president had to face.
Affirmative action means that Obama is allowed to shoot from the 7 foot line to make his foul shoots when other president had to shoot from 10 feet. What other conclusion can be drawn here? If Obama were white with the exact circumstances the thought of his reelection would be laughable.
I remember how the pundits on the Left loved to say that Obama was post-racial.
Let’s prove it, judge him as if he was fully white.

Wisconsin voters should feel shame for withering under PC manipulation and abandoning Gov Scott Walker

As often is the case dealing with the Liberal hoards that have no problem berating and demonizing their enemies, Scott Walker has become union enemy #1.
As far as the union is concerned, he must be defeated in order to continue to prolong the gravy train between the Democrat Party and themselves.
Making Walker a demon is right out of the Liberal playbook. Unfortunately for Wisconsin, if taxpayers don’t stand up to support the man they hired to fight the special interests that is bankrupting the state with their bloated benefit packages, the Badger state will continue to become another California and New York.
What will it be Wisconsin?
Will you fight for your state, let the public sector unions dictate terms?
Or will you cut and run because you can’t take the PC onslaught?
I thought badgers were tough.

Most people have lives of their own to live. They have to get kids ready for school. Get to work on time and deal with a boss they don’t like. When work is over, it’s a mad dash to pick up the kids, get dinner ready, pay some overdue bills, check home work, get the kids ready for sleep, and try and unwind from a rough day before it starts all over again.
So millions of New Yorkers weren’t paying attention when Andrew Cuomo cut a deal with SEIU, a powerful public sector union, that agrees to a 4% increase in Medicaid spending year after year. New York newspapers, including the New York Post, are fulfilling their role as propaganda machines for Democrat politicos and erroneously describe the deal as a “cap” on spending.
But, is it a cap?
If you had a carton of milk and turn it upside and removed the cap every four minutes, eventually all the milk will run out. So where expected to swallow 4% increase every year as Cuomo’s answer to right New York’s sinking ship of state?
Public sector unions throughout the state are tripping over themselves praising Gov Cuomo as a man they can negotiate with.
He’s not like that Walker guy in Wisconsin.
They’re standing in line waiting for their deal and the governor is only too happy to comply. All that is necessary to continue business as usual between a Democrat governor and the public sector unions that helped put him in office is for their media whores to call spending increase “caps” and “freezes” and New York taxpayers won’t know the difference because they’re too busy making lunch for the kids.

0 comments Posted by queen at 3:55 PMHere in New York a battle has been raging between the Mayor of New York, Mike Bloomberg, and newly elected union fav, Gov Andrew Cuomo on what criteria should be used to lay off 6,000 teachers. Previously, the law required that the last hired, should be first to be laid off, or namely LIFO. This puts a premium on seniority employment, a standard I feel is the most fair.
But, Bloomberg wants to scuttle LIFO and get rid of bad teachers that most likely have seniority in their side. Whichever side one may take on the argument, it points to a glaring factoid.
How does a bad teacher get to keep his or her job for years upon years? This answers falls right back onto the shoulders of the teachers’ union who for years have rejected any kind of evaluation plan for teachers that would endanger the size of the pool for collecting union dues. More teachers mean more union dues to collect. That gives the union more money to spend on Democrat politicians that return the favor with bigger union contacts.
In private industry, one is allowed only so many poor evaluations before an employee gets canned. But, in the rigged game that is the public sector, it’s a song and dance to fool the public while the money keeps rolling in.

Westboro Baptist Church vs Joel Olsteen, both are at opposite ends of a flawed Christian message

I have been known to step on some toes. So, forgive me if you feel my foot. You may have heard about the Westboro Baptist Church lately in the news. They’re a group of Christian believers that have taken upon themselves to show up at funeral services of our brave fallen military heroes that served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
They shout at mourners and carry signs like you can see on the left. In my opinion, what they do is appalling and is so far removed from how Christians ought to behave in this world.
But, let me also say this. Many of the things they say as far as God hating the moral decay of this country is correct. What Wstbore gets wrong is that God hates sin, but still loves sinners!
The basic message of the gospel is of mercy or grace that is willing to forgive the undeserving sinner of his sins.
Westbore totally leavers out the “grace” part of the gospel message and instead hammers people with condemnation and judgment. That is only one part of the message. Jesus preached hell and damnation 80% of the time. But, he demonstrated mercy all the time.
This brings me now to Joel Olsteen and his half a gospel. Westbore is a tiny cognation compared to Olsteen’s mega church which may be over 35,000 members strong. However, the size of the congregation does not in any way validate the message he preaches. If you tune in to one of Olsteen’s sermons that are all over the television, you can listen to him for 20 minutes without him making a specific reference to a Scripture verse.
That is a huge red flag!
Olsteen refuses to call his pulpit a pulpit, and instead calls it a podium. He rarely talks about sin and less about Hell or damnation. This is also a huge problem because he’s watering down the message of the gospel for fear of offending people.
However, the Bible is offensive. It’s meant to be. Jesus said he did not come to bring peace, but a sword, which means there will be a cutting away, or separation if you will from believers and non-believers. Olsteen never mentions any of that and instead does a very good impersonation of a garden variety motivational speaker instead of a minister of the gospel message.
Is there condemnation?
Absolutely, but there’s also mercy and building up your brother or sister and not tearing them down.
Is there encouragement?
Absolutely, but there’s also sound doctrine that has to be taught, followed and understood to its fullest measure to keep us from slipping into Biblical hearsay such as the prosperity gospel or liberation theology.
This is what makes the Christian walk a tricky balancing act. But, Christ himself with the help of the Holy Spirit keeps us in balance. And when we fall, and we do. He picks us right back up!

Mid East instability argues for breaking 2nd unholy alliance between Democrat Party and Environmentalists keeping U.S. from being energy independent

The time is now to step up and make the Middle East irrelevant when it comes to the energy needs of the United States.
For far too long the Democrat Party and environmentalists groups have enjoyed a similar cozy relationship like they’ve had with public sector unions that have prevented America from developing nuclear energy and drilling for more gas and oil.
80% of France’s electricity comes from “green” nuclear power. It should be exactly what Obama and environmentalists want, but it’s not. They much rather have a moratorium against building nuclear power plants which has been in effect over 30 years to keep the money flowing from environmentalists into the coffers of the Democrat Party to keep the moratorium in place.
It’s time to shut this alliance down and build the nuclear plants, drill for the oil and gas and not rely on the Mid East for anything accept to protect the state of Israel.
The GOP needs another Scott Walker with the same political courage to break the Democrats and envivro-nuts money hustle and do what’s best for America.

It’s been a few weeks now since President Obama’s army of union thugs, Organizing for America, his army of press propagandists in the main stream media, and his army of Far Left blogs in the blogasphere have been unleashing a non stop barrage of misinformation, half truths, and ugly character assignation on one man—Scott Walker.They’ve called him Hitler, Stalin, and even worse names to protect their “special interests” or in more plain language “hustle”, “sweet set up”, or “unholy alliance” between the Democrat Party and public sector unions that keeps the money flowing the votes coming, and the generous benefit packages growing at the expense of Wisconsin taxpayers.
Trough all this Scott Walker is showing more courage and determination than Ronald Reagan, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mahatma Gandhi combined!
They didn’t have to deal with the likes of Barack Obama’s formidable skills as an “organizer”. The Democrat Party knew years ago they needed a special vessel for this battle that is bigger than the state of Wisconsin. The man they needed didn’t have to be a former governor, or a mayor. He didn’t have to know how to run a business. What they wanted was an expert motivator of people to agitate, agitate, agitate and eventually wear people down.
They found that man in Barack Obama who is that prefect vessel for this battle of all battles that will determine whether or not the future of this country is in the hands of the taxpayers or the special interests—the public sector unions.
If you’re a taxpayer in Wisconsin, California, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and Michigan, all one party states controlled by Democrats and their big tax and spending policies, and all on the brink of bankruptcy, do you think all this is a coincidence?

3. Public sector Unions
4. Extremely generous benefit packages private sector workers never get, but pay for.
5.Unsustainable spending
6.Higher Taxes to pay the unions
7. Near bankruptcy
The pattern is the same in all these states and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand it.
The real attackers of the middle class IS the public sector unions because they’re getting paid more than the average private sector worker when you factor in the value of their benefit packages.
So don’t fall for the noise and support Walker for wanting to put and end to the madness and your shrinking pocketbook.
Don’t be a sucker for the flimflam because you’re smarter than that!
That’s why the public sector unions are camping at art the state capital in Madison. This is why they’re acting like thugs to intimidate the weak hearted.
But, Walker is standing strong. Will you stand strong with him, or let the unions and Obama’s propaganda machine make you feel like the bad guys while they dip more into your wallet and call you a sucker behind your back?

BYU vs Northwestern U, a tale of moral clarity and moral erosion

Its funny how in one week, there were two very different events that occurred in two of our best colleges that illustrate how far this country has fallen morally.
The names of the innocent or guilty are unimportant for the purpose of this comparison.
At Bingham Young University, a basketball player was kicked off BYU’s men’s basketball team for having pre-marital sex with his girlfriend. The university, which is run by the Mormon Church, considered such behavior a violation of their “Honor Code” that they expect their students to follow.
Imagine that?
In the 21st century there still exists a college that still upholds values that used to be the norm for every other college in the country. .
Now let’s move a few thousand miles to the East to Northwestern University, where a live sex act was performed in class in front of open mouth students. The in your face sexcapade was performed by a man and his girlfriend in which the woman was brought to orgasm with the aid of a refurbished power tool. When word of this outrageous incident first hit the news, the university president initially defended the actions of his staff as an act of academic freedom. But, now that the blowback is getting stronger, he’s just disappointed.
Disappointed?
A favorite default position of the Left is to argue, “as long as no crime was broken…or as long as nobody is hurt…” yada yada yada.
However, this standard is no standard at all at all.
We shrug our shoulders and look the other way. Forget about taking a stand for decency. Why stick your neck out and risked being called names?
Well, I say BYU should be applauded exactly for her refusal to not follow the crowd of “Jersey Shore” Pop Culture. She follows a standard set down by a power greater than herself and doesn’t need to stick a finger in the air to see where the wind is blowing.
In my faith, the Bible speaks about building a house on solid rock instead of sand. And although BYU may believe in different things than my faith as is her right under our freedom of religion, her foundation is much more solid than the Northwesterns, the Harvards, the Yales or other formerly Christian schools that are gradually sinking in the sand.
Moral erosion is not cool.
In fact, it leads to the very hot!
